Neurofeedback
Neurofeedback is the process of training the brain to improve emotional regulation and encourage flexible responses to life's challenges.
Much like in biofeedback, neurofeedback uses technology to show "real time" electro-chemical activity in your heart or muscles (as in biofeedback) and your brain (neurofeedback).
These devices feed this information back and allow the "owner" of that activity to change their responses through sound or visual reinforcement. Over time, and with practice, the brain, heart, or muscular activity can "learn" new ways of responding.
Pretty cool, huh?
Neurofeedback has been shown to be effective in lots of everyday challenges like:
- getting a good night’s sleep
- headaches
- paying attention
- staying organized
- managing stress
- learning how to relax
- improving focus and organizational skills
- reducing anxiety and managing stress
- improving emotional regulation
- reducing ADHD and PTSD symptoms
Most people begin to see changes in about 10–15 trainings. And just like other things you train for, regular practice makes a difference!
